Project map Idea
My plan for this project is to make a map of all my favorite restaurants on campus. The university of Illinois is one of the most diverse universities in the United States with people with all different types of backgrounds and ethnicities. This can be seen from all of the different types of restaurants on campus.
As a huge fan of good food, it has been my roommates and my adventure to try every restaurant on green street and in the Champaign area. On this adventure that we have created, this will allow me to map my favorite restaurants on campus so far. I really think that this would be a good way to keep track of all of the different restaurants and rank them based on what type of cuisine that is desired. Hopefully with this map, I am able to create a guide for future students and people who visit the Champaign area.
It is actually so nice that there are so many different restaurants of all types of cuisines so that on any given day there is something new to try based on what the person is feeling. Furthermore, as a college student who does not have a lot of money, having healthy food for an affordable price has always been a priority for me. Making this map will allow people to pinpoint exactly where students can go for healthy affordable meals that also taste really good. In my opinion, having these many options can be overwhelming at first because there is so much to try. I remember wanting to try every single restaurant as an incoming freshman, however along my journey there has been countless times that I have had food that has made my stomach upset, or just not a satisfying meal. I do understand that everyones taste palette is different, however I want to help people in trying food tht they may have never tried beofore and actually encourage people to step out of their comfort zone.
This topic is especially interesting to me because as someone who has travelled all over the world one of the most important aspects is the different culture in every country. One of the most interesting aspects of culture is food. Every culture has different foods and different traditions that can be seen all around campus. For example, the other day in my apartment, they had free Chinese food for people to have. It is a good way to promote food and also allow students the opportunity to try new foods. Another example I have is that in my apartment, a local shoe company, was giving away Sakanaya gift vouchers. That was very critical because it allowed people to have expensive food without breaking the bank. It also helped promote the local shoe company
Overall, I think that this topic would be very interesting and I would enjoy looking further into this topic, especially if I am already on a mission to try every restaurant in the Champaign area before I graduate!
